One of the traditions that my Grandpa always hosted was getting the family together on Super Bowl Sunday. I don’t believe that any one of us really likes football, or even watched the game. It was simply an excuse to get together and have a gathering. Grandpa loved a great party with his relatives. His cooking wasn’t gourmet, usually included hot dogs and chicken noodle soup. Over the years, we started bringing the food including simple appetizers to help out.
After Grandpa passed away in 2011, my father and his siblings picked up the traditions of getting together. They still do the annual ritual of coming together with football. It looks a little different now (and doesn’t always include hot dogs) but the essential of being together with your family remains unchanged.
When I host gatherings now at our house, I’m looking for a simple appetizer that I can prepare in advance then just whip out when the time is right, or something very simple. Here are 8 great recipes that fit the bill of simple appetizers for game day.
