Rainbow Peanut Butter Snack Bites
Working with kids in the kitchen is not as hard as it may seem, it just requires patience. The other key is a simple recipe that works for the attention span of your kids. Lately, my children have been fascinated with baking. Who doesn’t love a sweet treat for your efforts?

My kids love to get involved in recipes and recipe development. Sharing a stool, they stand next to the counter top and eagerly await the ingredients and steps to make a treat. Mr J happily chops things with his doggy knife, stirs, and breaks eggs with ease. Miss P not to be outdone is learning the ways of the kitchen, and is glad to lick a spoon, or get her hands (or face) into any mixture.

Mini Chef P Making Peanut Butter Snack Bites

This Rainbow Peanut Butter Snack Bite recipe we recently developed is a great fit with preschoolers and toddlers who have short attention spans. It’s a no-bake recipe, and includes just 5 ingredients. With a little supervision, my kids did every step of this recipe themselves.

Rainbow Peanut Butter Snack Bites

From measuring, to tasting their Kraft Peanut Butter to ensure its deliciousness, to photographing their creation (just like Mommy, I’m told), rolling the balls in sprinkles, and of course, eating it for dessert!

While we were making the Kraft Peanut Butter Bites, the inevitable who gets the stirring spoon to lick conversation broke out. Quickly, I grabbed another teaspoon, dipped it too in peanut butter and handed it off. It occurred to me later, my mom certainly had this problem while baking with us growing up too. With four kids and only 2 beaters, getting a coveted beater to lick was the highlight of any recipe we made together.

The other favourite part was adding their favourite treats – chocolate chips and sprinkles. After both kids rolled the balls around in their hands (some more round than others), we rolled them around in the sprinkles on a dinner plate. Of course, the sprinkles stuck to their hands to their absolute delight.
