DIY Paw Patrol Stocking
This time of year, your little ones are seeing their favourite characters EVERYWHERE. Here’s a great DIY Paw Patrol stocking idea for the one on your list who only wants to see Marshall, Chase and the whole gang under the tree. Sew up this simple DIY Paw Patrol stocking then stuff it with everything this side of Adventure Bay.
This is a great project for novice sewers.
I am not an expert seamstress, but I was able to create this stocking in about 2 hours after the kids had gone to bed.
Materials
- Paw Patrol Fabric
- Poly Cotton Blend Liner
- Coordinating Thread
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Pins
- Fur Trim Tape
- Glue Gun
Instructions
Start by washing your fabric and ironing it.
Next, you need to create a pattern. I used another stocking to trace a pattern onto paper and then I added ½ inch around the tracing line.
Cut 2 of the patterned fabric (remember to cut one of each side) and 2 of the lining.
Pin all 4 pieces together – right side of fabric facing in, liner on the outside.
To ensure the stocking has a clean edge on top, you can fold down both sides of the stocking. To do this, fold the character liner over the top of the lining and secure each side with a zigzag stitch. This will also help you remember to leave an opening at the top of the stocking! I folded the edges after pinning the stocking together to ensure the two sides matched. I then did a quick straight stitch all the way around to hold down the edges. More experienced sewers probably have a better way. Let me know in the comments if you do!
When you’ve finished the top edges, sew around the edge of the other ‘three’ sides. Easy Peasy. Once you’re done, just turn it right side out and make sure everything looks like it should.
I hand-stitched a loop of the fur onto the stocking for hanging and applied the fur tape around the top with a glue gun.
