12 Favourite Christmas Books
‘Tis the season to curl up on a cold winter’s day with a big cup of hot chocolate and a favourite read. I can’t think of anything more relaxing! Since having children, one of my very favourite things is to introduce them to favourite books and classics.
I didn’t really have many Christmas book favourites. With so many great pins out there about book advent calendars (a book a day), I sought to make my own version. Given my thrifty nature, I took 2-3 books every week out of our local library, in total about 40 books that we read through. These are the favourites that we took out that the kids loved and so did I.
Frosty The Snowman– Duck & Goose, It’s Time For Christmas!– Fa La La – That’s Not My Reindeer
All of these are terrific stocking stuffers or Christmas tales to borrow from your local library for the little elf in your life. Board books can take the impacts of little fingers exploring their pages, and all of these tales will have you smiling along with them. As an added bonus, if you love the classic Frosty song, you can break into song!
Wombat Divine– Llama Llama Holiday Drama– A Porcupine in a Pine Tree: A Canadian 12 Days of Christmas– Jolly Christmas Postman
Wombat Divine is a classic with the religious Christmas play. If you love a rhyming tale, the llama llama book is where it’s at – all Anna D. books have a beautiful flow to them. A very classic Christmas tale with a Canadian twist, including our favourite hockey team, grab the Porcupine in a Pine Tree! It has become a favourite at our house! If you like lift the flaps, with activities, the Jolly Christmas postman is a terrific read.
Little Blue Truck’s Christmas– Olivia Helps with Christmas– Diary Of A Christmas Wombat– Dashing Through the Snow: A Canadian Jingle Bells
If you have enjoyed the Little Blue Truck (we sure have!) then this Christmas book complete with twinkle lights at the end will strike fancy at your house. We also have been enjoying reading Olivia (especially the Fairy Princesses), so a little holiday Olivia is called for. We love the Wombat and how much we loves carrots, so we have the Christmas Wombat picked out too. With the success of the Porcupine in a Pine Tree, I’m also adding Dashing Through the Snow to our wish list.
