My family is rough on clothing. We play HARD and that means mud, dirt, grass and anything else that is almost guaranteed to leave a stain behind. For my kid, I’m looking for clothes that can stand the rough play and subsequent washing after fun has been had. When I start looking for back to school clothes, in particular, I really want pants that are durable enough to stand up to one kid (and hopefully, even two).
Mr J, who recently turned 4, is a tall and skinny guy. He has recently hit a growth spurt where he is eating everything in sight and has grown out of most his pants in length. He needs the length of 4T pants but the waistband somewhere between 2T-3T. With little sister growing up right behind Mr J, any pants that are gender neutral and can be handed down are a bonus. It helps my pocketbook and allows us to spend more money on experiences and adventures.
So when we had the opportunity to do a little back-to-school shopping at our local Carters | OshKosh B’gosh store, we jumped at the chance. Their pants have proven to be durable and easily adjustable. Their clothing can take the helping of outdoor play we dish out and still look cute doing it.
Their new back-to-school collection features glow-in-the-dark space tees that were instantly a hit with Mr J. He was immediately drawn to them. He searched high and low in Carter’s | OshKosh B’Gosh to find a small dark corner where he could test out the tee. (None to be had – he had to be content with a closet at home). They come in 3 different styles for your little spaceman. I’m glad Mr J had a favourite because it was hard to pick between all these colourful, cute shirts!
As we picked out a few things to try out in the change room like the Double Decker Pocket Tee, and Binary Button-Front Shirt, I hadn’t realized an important point. Mr J had never actually tried on clothes before. Typically, we just pick up the next size up and go from there. As he made faces in the change room mirror, I found myself explaining the process of trying on clothes.
The Classic Carpenter Jeans are a basic essential for us. When the friendly customer service person rang them up, I couldn’t believe they were only $14. For thrifty moms, it was a great option that offers durability, comfort and versatility. It makes two outfits a snap! We walked away from our first experience trying on clothes with a smile.
Our favourite finds ended up being:
–Glow-in-the-Dark Space Tee
–Binary Button-Front Tee
–Classic Carpenter Jeans
