My sister was always the go-to hair person in my world. She is amazingly creative and would help me do my hair in various styles. We spent much time crouched in the bathroom together in front of the mirror. Typically she was reciting “Beauty is pain” while I winced along. The outcome was usually that my hair looked like I was amazingly creative (or at least skilled) with it. Don’t be fooled, I’m not.
My daughters hair has recently come out of that awkward toddler phase where there isn’t quite enough of it into it’s glory. Her hair is amazing – it’s long, it’s thick, and curly. Just recently, I’ve gotten her to agree to let me style it. I’ve got the basics down like braids, ponytails, pigtails which please her.
Brushing Out The Tangles Without Tears
The problem that I have is that I have to get through brushing her hair before she will let me style it. With knots from the wind, sticky pieces of who-knows-what, and even a little paint from a craft project in there, it’s hard to be gentle and get all the knots out too.
Recently, the Ouchless Brush from Goody has become the answer to my problem. The brush is gentle enough to work through the mess of tangles without having to recite the old catchphrase like my sister did. The cushion and bristles lets the hair slide through targeting the knots, but not with tugging and pulling. It’s like my own hair secret weapon.
Seeing is believing, so we rigged up the Momcam to show you how easy it is, and I even let Miss P brush my knotty hair and style it too for good measure (like mother like daughter).
Here’s my final look:
I look forward to more simple joys with my daughter bonding over hair clips, now without the tears over tangles.
