5 Quick Winter Activities for Kids
We’ve had a little blizzard happening over the past couple days. So far it has deposited over 18″ of snow and still counting. With temperatures that are dipping down into -30C, it’s not the ideal time to play outside. It’s hard to stay inside with so much wonderful snow freshly glistening outside! When the temperature warms up, here are a few of our favourite activities to do outside in the snow.
Snow Art
Rummage in the recycling bin for this one. Well-washed squeeze bottles or trigger heads can make excellent companions for a little snow art. Filled the bottles up with warm water and a little food colouring. It will melt the snow a little when it sprays and makes neat patterns.
Tic Tac Snow
Draw a tic tac toe board in the snow. Use matching items to be X or O – or better yet spray using your Snow Art bottles an X or O. When done with a board, simply draw another one in a different place and start over.
Snow Castles
Grab your sand buckets or bowls from the kitchen. Pack snow in each one and create your own little village or neighbourhood to play with. For bonus points, colour it with your new snow art bottles.
Snow Ball Fight
Classic for a reason! Build your own fort to hide behind then create the best collection of snowballs you can muster.
Snow Angels
Lay back in the snow and work your arm and legs back and forth to make the perfect snow angel. Not only is it a great work out, it’s also a beautiful decoration for your lawn.
