Simple Camping Treats & Drinks
I admit, I ensure we eat pretty healthy at home most of the time. But while we’re camping we tend to have our S’mores and eat them too.
And why not? With all of the outdoor air and additional exercise, it’s great time to indulge in a treat or two. We headed out camping last weekend and took a loop approach, so each night we stopped at a different camp site. After all the fun the second day, I was ready to prop up my feet by the campfire, toast a marshmallow or two and have frosty, bubbly beverage.
Although sometimes I like to get creative with my campfire cooking , this wasn’t one of those times. This was a quick grab it out of the RV and make it happen situation. I ended up with this simple picnic table set-up for treats & drinks.
I found the Soda Stream very convenient to take camping! Nothing extra to pack – I literally put the bottle on it & shoved the whole thing in a closet. The sample pack slips right in behind it and gives you the most options for types of bubbly beverage to make without hauling tons of bottles with you. You just add tap water, which is easy to bring with you in your water tank or to pump from your local campground supply. Best of all, no waste you have to do anything with!
My buddy and I enjoyed a little Lemon-Lime action, and of course, toasted to our health before enjoying the “bubbes” as he puts it. Mr J doesn’t usually get pop, so this was truly a special camping treat.
After roasting several marshmallows for myself (and the kids eating several plain), I burnt myself on the roasting stick. My fingers immediately started to blister, and I panicked slightly. The pump for the water wasn’t close by, and I had no ice in the trailer. I realized my Lemon-Lime was so frosty, I actually could put my poor burnt fingers in it. You know what? It did the trick and kept my fingers from burning any further.
