Spring Forward Checklist: How did you do?
It’s been a few weeks since the time change, but I forgot all about that Spring Forward Checklist. You know the list, the one where you’re supposed to change the batteries in your fire alarms every time the clocks change? Yeah, that one. Every year I vow to make a calendar to mark the tasks that are recommended we do twice a year. I’m probably too busy trying to survive the time change and I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one.
So let’s all hold hands together and take a moment to get ahead of those not-at-the-top-of-the-list household tasks.
Some people are all about the wall calendar – and we have a weekly one that is pretty impressive. But I think I need to start adding reminders to my phone for those distant reminders. No matter how you like to keep track, here are a few things to add to your list.
Replace Toothbrushes
The Canadian Dental Association recommends you change your toothbrush every three months[1]. Place a smiley face sticker at the start of every third month of the year. It will remind you to buy new brushes for your family.
Check Medicine Expiry Dates
Remember that all medicines expire, including vitamins and supplements. To ensure your medicine cabinet is up to date, schedule a simple calendar reminder for twice a year. This way you’ll remember to check the expiry date and re-stock if necessary.
Change the Baking Soda in Your Fridge
There are a few varieties made for this specific task. Arm & Hammer™ Fridge-n-Freezer™ or Fridge Fresh™ Baking Soda helps to eliminate odours and keeps your fridge or freezer smelling fresh. I use them but I always forget to replace them. One suggestion is to jot down a replacement reminder on the box for a month’s time to maintain maximum odour elimination, ensuring your food stays fresher, longer. I’m going to try placing a reminder on my phone for the first Saturday each month. Saturdays are grocery shopping days at our house.
Keeping Healthy
Simple healthy habits, like getting all your fruits and veggies or taking vitamins, slip our minds during hectic days. So Vitafusion™ Vitamin D is a great addition to your routine. During the fall and winter months, heavy clothes and cloudy weather can inhibit the production of Vitamin D in the body. Don’t run short on Vitamin D. Try placing a reminder in your calendar or on your phone at the start of the fall season to start taking a supplement. Very few foods naturally contain this vitamin, so it can be hard to get your necessary intake[2] without a supplement. Known as the sunshine vitamin, Vitamin D supports bone and teeth health – Vitafusion™ Vitamin D also comes in a delicious gummy.
Keeping a family calendar is a lifesaver for many families. What else do you add to your calendar for your Spring Forward Checklist?
