TheInspiredHome.org // 6 DIY Halloween Costumes from your favourite TV & Movie Shows!

We’ve had a busy Halloween season here at The Inspired Home! All of our kids requested something a little different this year so each of us flexed our crafty muscles and created a custom DIY costume for each of them. In case you’re counting, that’s 6 kids in total! The kids range from ages 2-7 but any of these costumes can be changed to fit any size from toddlers to big kids at heart.

Each of our children chose a popular character they love this year. Many of these stem from our favourite television shows and movies we love to watch over and over (and over and over…) on Netflix. Nothing beats the convenience of turning on the TV and immediately starting up the latest request from our kids. Some of our kids chose quick and easy character costumes and others had a more unique request. Regardless, we had Netflix to turn on for the kids while we crafted our little hearts out for our adorable children.

Alison from FeeFiFoFun was a big help when it came to assembling the many requests of our many kids. FeeFiFoFun is a costume concierge and shoppe. You want it? Alison will find it! While there are many items in stock, this website is your best resource for those hard-to-find items. If she can’t find exactly what you’re looking for, she will find everything you need to DIY the perfect costume for you or your kids. She is a fantastic resource for both entire costumes as well as that one special item you just can’t seem to find.

Jibanyan – Yo-Kai Watch

Melanie’s son wanted to look just like Jibanyan, his favourite character from Yo-Kai Watch. This is a popular one this year and she assembled the perfect costume for her son. Alison found the jumpsuit but Melanie wanted to add a little bit more to make the costume stand out. The collar with bell is a simple do-it-yourself craft that your little Jibanyan can help out with.

Pikachu – Pokemon

Melanie’s son declared that his little sister just had to be Pikachu, the cutest Pokemon in the Pokedex. Repurposing a duck costume proved to be the perfect fit for this adorable little Pikachu. Head on over to the tutorial to learn how you can quickly and easily recreate this costume for your Pokefan.

Rainbow Dash – My Little Pony

Holly’s youngest declared she wanted to be Rainbow Dash for Halloween. This My Little Pony character is known for being sporty and spunky and full of rainbows. These characteristics fit Miss P to a T! You only need a few simple items to whip up this costume in no time.

Marshall – Paw Patrol

Paw Patrol is all the rage these days so it’s no wonder that Holly’s firetruck-loving son wanted to be Marshall. Holly used a mix of both old and new costume pieces to come up with this one-of-a-kind costume perfect for Little J.

Minion – Despicable Me

Andrea’s son lives and breathes all things related to Despicable Me so it only made sense that he be a Minion for Halloween. Most of the items needed for this costume can be found at your local thrift store. The bonus is that many of the items can be used after Halloween as well!

Fluffy Unicorn – Despicable Me

Miss O loves all things related to unicorns. Being the awesome big sister that she is, she wanted a costume to match her little brother so she chose the fluffy unicorn from the Despicable Me movies. This costume can be altered in so many ways and so many colours that you can find the perfect fit for your little unicorn lover.
