In the latest instalment of our alphabet craft collection you will find C is for Caterpillar. Don’t forget to check out A is for Apple and B is for Bear.
Once again, I used my Cricut Explore Air Wireless Cutting Machine to cut out the letter C and the circle for the head. Both of these items can very easily be cut out with scissors as well – it’s a great lesson in dexterity for young kids! Aside from that, you only need some big fuzzy pom poms, a pipe cleaner for the antennae and some googly eyes! And of course some glue for attaching everything.
Miss O always loves it when I bust out a craft involving pom poms, particularly the pink ones! Let’s be honest: Who doesn’t love pom poms?
Here are some excellent Caterpillar books ideas including the classic Eric Carle book that I’m sure was the first to come to mind!
This is the perfect craft to accompany any of the books shown above. It’s also really easy to prepare if you’ve left it to the last minute! The items can be picked up at your local dollar store for minimal cost. I use cardstock for the alphabet crafts but construction paper works just as well.
Don’t forget to cut those pipe cleaners in half – that’s all you need to make one set of antennae. Fold in half and make some curly little ends on it! I used a plain black marker to give my caterpillar a little smile. Let the kids go to town with some jumbo fuzzy pom poms in a vast array of colours.
Don’t miss the other letters in the Alphabet Craft Series!

Andrea can always be found with a new craft in front of her, a form of technology on her right and a coffee on her left. This is how she survives suburbia with her two crazy toddlers in tow.
